FREMONT, Nebraska — A Latino civil rights group has filed a federal lawsuit against a Nebraska city over proposed illegal immigration regulations.
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) sued the city of Fremont because they believe that a new ordinance that will ban people from hiring illegal immigrants or renting them homes is unconstitutional and also goes against the federal Fair Housing Act.
The group contends that the ordinance discriminates against Latinos in particular and deprives them of due process.
The ordinance, which is scheduled to go into effect on July 29, has sparked controversy in Fremont as well as other cities. It is similar to the new anti-immigration laws that are scheduled to pass in Arizona on the same day.
With the surge in protests and negativity toward immigrants in general as of recent, all immigrants are urged to hire an immigration lawyer as soon as possible to protect their rights. Many illegal aliens are not fully aware of the rules and regulations that are being passed and hide because they are afraid of being deported, instead of seeking legal representation to gain legal status in the United States.
An immigration lawyer will work hard to protect their clients and help them obtain a visa, residency, and even citizenship. They will take care of filling out paperwork for their clients, contacting immigration agencies and will make themselves available should their clients have any questions. They will even try to find a job for their customers and English or U.S. history tutors for those that need it.
Time is of the essence. Contact a top immigration lawyer now for help in remaining in the United States legally.
