ARIZONA — An Arizona sheriff has decided to take issues over the new state immigration law to a new level.
Joe Arpaio, a Maricopa County sheriff, has noted that he is “not going to put up with any civil disobedience” regarding the new ordinance.
He has proclaimed that he will have no problem putting protesters in jail if they disrupt the peace.
The new anti-illegal immigration law is scheduled to take effect on July 29. It allows police officers to question a person’s legal status if they suspect their suspect is an illegal alien.
It also prevents business owners from hiring immigrants if they do not have an employment visa.
Those who oppose the law argue that it will cause controversy because it is allowing for racial profiling.
In an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Arpaio said that he doesn’t understand “what the big hype is.”
He contends that it’s “a crime to be here illegally and everyone should enforce [the new law].”
Anyone living in the country illegally should seek an immigration lawyer as soon as possible to see about getting an employment visa or green card in order to remain in the United States. The problem many immigrants make is trying to solve their issues on their own.
Without the proper legal guidance, many aliens never obtain the necessary paperwork or approval to remain in the country. Language barriers also prevent aliens from communicating their needs and acquiring the information they are looking for. Having an immigration attorney can mean the difference between gaining legal status and being deported.
